About You!
Personality: Strive for perfection, be the best you can be. Yasuhiro is a shining example of the expression practice makes perfect, being someone who has devoted his entire life to his craft and has come to excel at it. He is calm and collected, never letting his rage or frustration get the better of him. His discipline is second to none and his impressive Martial Arts skills have seen him gain a large amount of respect from his peers. He gives off somewhat of an air of arrogance, though that is mostly due to the fact that he is often someone who doesn’t speak unless needed, allowing his actions to do his speaking for him.
While he often comes across as straight laced and boring, Yasuhiro is not necessarily as straightforward as people seem to like to believe. Inside his own head he is never good enough, something that was instilled into him by his father who was a hardass on him all throughout the training he had done at home, and then by his instructors at the school. He often can hear his father’s voice telling him that he is not good enough and that he will never amount to anything and that troubles him more than anything else. He is extremely hard on himself mentally, and tends to be hard on himself physically as well, sometimes resorting to selfharm as a punishment for not being good enough.
Likes: Yasuhiro may not seem like he is the type to enjoy such a thing but one of the things he treasures most in life is the praise of others. After his treatment from his father when he was a child, and from the instructors at the “school” who always told him he’d never be good enough, he took the praise of others to be something extremely worth cherishing and would always go out of his way to make sure that people who praised him were happy. He is also a fan of martial arts contests, as he enjoys showing people just how good he is and opening himself up for praise. He is essentially someone who fishes for compliments through fighting.
Dislikes: More than likely due to the fact that he enjoys when people praise him for his strengths, Yasuhiro bates weakness. It doesn’t matter whether it stems from himself or someone else, if he detects weakness he will do everything he can to stamp it out. Yasuhiro also is not a fan of people who are loud or boisterous, as he was always taught to be more humble, and he will not very often interact with such people, except for certain circumstances.
History: Yasuhiro’s mother was an absolutely beautiful woman with flowing raven hair and ruby red lips. Her skin was tan and flawless and her azure blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight with such a beauty that his father could not begin to describe it, though he had tried several times to describe the moment he had first seen her to his son many times. He would often tell Yasuhiro that his mother’s beauty was so immense that he had believed that she was an angel sent from the heavens above to come and turn him from a path of anger and pain and to free him from his shackles. He had always believed this, which was of course until she had died giving birth to her only son. His father was overcome with grief at her death, and though she had told him to love their son with all his heart as he had loved her he had always found that somewhat difficult, as every time he would look upon Yasuhiro’s face he would see his former lover and it would drive him into a rage.
Yasuhiro would be trained in the martial arts at a young age, formally being enrolled into a school when he was five years old. He learned different forms of combat from hand to hand tai-kwan-do, Kung Fu and Ju-jutsu to weapon based bo-staff and sword combat. He had always done well in his classes, better than most infact, though his father was there every step of the way to critique him. Nothing that Yasuhiro ever did was good enough for his father, who after the death of his mother had become an angry and quite agressive drunk. When he wasn't drinking he was often sobbing, overcome with grief and when he took to the bottle he became bad for taking out his anger on the young Yasuhiro. Thanks to this Yasuhiro never believed he was good enough and would therefore push himself too far, often straining himself and even harming himself in the process.
By the time he was in his early teens he was a black belt in each of his martial arts and a master of the sword. His masters had taught him to be a very humble and kind person, and his father had taught him simply that he needed to be quiet and he would never be good enough. Early in his teens he also descovered that he had the ability to airbend, something that would help him greatly as he honed his craft in his martial arts. Though he was proud of his bending abilities, he was also fearful as he knew that the world would not understand such an ability as airbending. He eventually mastered this too, learning the advanced techniques of spirit bending and chi bending at the same time, and becoming quite a master. When he hit the age of sixteen he left his abusive father and found his own place, making small amounts of money by helping teach children at the dojo that he had trained at.
As he grew stronger he also developed a reputation around the town, which led to certain people becoming jealous of the young man's ability. These people were looking for reasons to go and legally take their aggression out on Yasuhiro, being able to find nothing and no way to do so. Eventually they decided they would fight him, being members of a rival dojo, and took him on two verses one. Little did Yasuhiro know he would end up fighting against three of them and he would have to use his airbending to his advantage. The men were foaming at the mouth when they learned he was a bender, having the exact leverage they needed to have him run out of town. Yasuhiro would end up fleeing the village and wandering around the world, looking for a new place to call home.
Eventually, when he was twenty-two, he would come to find a small village to stay in, ending up helping out the people there. The village was a small and simple farming village that didn't have much, but they did take in the stranger. He would build himself a house and open his own dojo in the village to teach anyone who wished to learn the different martial arts that he knew, in hopes that he could balance them in body and mind so that the village would prosper and be able to hold its own in the event of a conflict. He once again became a well respected member of the community and resided there peacefull for seven years until the village was attacked by the same people who had attacked Yasuhiro before. Apparently word had reached his previous village of his dojo and they caught wind of it, leading a small army to march on the peaceful village and proceeding to torch it in the night, destroying the village and the dojo with it. Yasuhiro was devestated and decided that enough was enough. He hunted down his agressors and killed them all to a man in combat, himself taking on the entire group. He took out his decades of anger and frustration on them and slaughtered them all.
After exacting his revenge, something that would weigh heavily on his mind, he decided that he would travel towards a small haven that he had thought he had heard of. The place was a home to many benders and he believed that he would be able to benefit them there by teaching the young airbenders more about their craft, and potentially teaching them some martial arts as well. He would eventually make his way towards the last remaining haven for benders, and would open up shop at another dojo to teach the benders of tomorrow...
