| As the sun peaked up over the village of Kaiki no Sato, the last haven for benders in the world, and streamed in through the bamboo blinders over the small window in the middle room of a small house near the edge of the town, a young blonde teen could be seen scrunching his baby blue eyes closed, one hand moving over to shield them from the sun as the other ran through his medium length blonde hair, brushing the mess of golden strands away from his face as well. He, at some point, had kicked the covers off of himself and his muscular upper body was easily visible in the strands of sunlight as it caught the contours of his abdominal muscles, which were fairly well defined for a boy his age due to the training that his master had put him through all of his life. When he finally stopped fighting the sun and allowed it to stream over himself, his beautiful eyes opened up slowly and, upon a quick scan around the room, he noticed that he had thrown his pillows off of the bed at some point. He shook his head and slowly sat up, resting his forehead between his soft slender hands before putting pressure on his elbows and making himself stand up.
As the teen walked down the hallway and into the kitchen, his master was sitting there waiting for him. The weathered old man watched as the young teen walked into the room, a small bowl of soup in front of him which he was nursing before taking a sip of his tea. His brown skin and black hair were flecked with age marks, wrinkles and grey and white hairs adorning the man all over. He was wearing furs and traditional whale hunting attire, and was easily recognisable as a member of the water tribes, or at least would have been were the water tribes still their own entity. He simply wore the garments because they were the traditional clothing of his people and he was trying to preserve that part of his heritage.
“Ah, good for you to join me young Emrys.” His voice was as weathered as his leathery skin as he looked up and smiled a warm grin. Emrys smiled back and took a seat, sipping some of the tea as his master continued on to lecture him about sleeping in too late and how if he wishes to truly surpass a great warrior and leader like his father he would need to commit to his training and begin waking up earlier, and how he and his father had woken up before the sun rose to train on many occasions, when fire bending was at its weakest and his waterbending would be stronger, and they would train all day until the sun was at its zenith and his father would gain the advantage in order for both of them to get the most out of their training. Emrys took all of this information in as he quickly ate breakfast before nodding to his master and thanking him for the food. He then made his way towards the doorway and walked out to one of the local training areas in the village and took out his swords, finding a pell that he enjoyed training on and pulling out his father’s twin onyx black swords and working through his routines. He always kept an eye opened around him and made sure he was fully aware of his surrounding, in the event that someone else wished to join his session…

| Ah, the wonders of smelling of fish guts and salt water, you could be left alone to your thoughts even in the more populated parts of the village. Oh, near the docks and markets he was just another face in the crowd, but out in the rest of the world his rather odd smell and somewhat cold expression bought him a measure of peace. It wasn't that he was strange, or different; he was merely a boy that had spent most of the last ten years of his life living and working with a fisherman; his beloved grandfather, recently passed from this world; and the habit of hanging around the docks with the fisherman and fish mongers was still strong in him. It didn't help that his breakfast had been a strongly scented fish stew that only the dock workers and their families could stomach, as it was made from the parts no normal people would take, leaving it strongly scented and even stronger in flavor. Ah, comfort food.
Haru was already returning home from a busy day's work; he was young, but not so young that he couldn't work for his keep, and living alone with no family or anyone to support him meant that he had to go out and make his coin to survive. He was fine with that; his grandfather had taught him well and left him with the skills to survive anywhere where there where fish and a need to process them; he could fish on his own if he wanted, but he preferred to stay on dry land. While his grandfather was a fairly gifted waterbender; Haru was a firebender by birth, and while he loved the sea and the water, he couldn't swim to save his life, so it was too dangerous for him to go out on the ships and catch the fish. No, he made his living working with the mongers and graders dock-side. It wasn't glamorous work, but it paid the bills, and he took home plenty of the best scraps to keep himself fed. A steady diet of fish and the vegetables he grew in his small yard kept him healthy and lean, perfect for his job.
He was lugging home a rather full looking bag; made of the special kelp and seal leather that kept the fish inside moist and cool even on the warmest of days; allowing him time to get home to store it properly with it was still fresh and good. The way the strap of the bag sat across his body had his clothing riding in weird ways; while the apron tied across his waist was mostly in place, the shirt he'd chosen for the day (a simple black tee, nothing fancy for him) was riding high on his stomach, leaving a bit of his toned abdomen exposed as well as the leather belt that held his loose slack up. In this belt glinted the metal of a knife, the special hooked kind that the fisherman had, which allowed them to slice into a fish and gut it cleanly with one quick movement. Settled slightly behind that was a leather bullwhip, a strange site on a dock worker, less so on the fisherman that brought in the larger species of fish. A good crack from the whip could blind an Unagi in a split second, allowing for a clean kill and a safe catch.
If not for the silence of the area, he never would have noticed another human's existence; as he spent much of his free time living pretty exclusively in his own mind. Not the most social of people, Haru tended to be extremely polite and respectful to everyone around him, even people he knows well; but he is not the type to be open and whatnot about himself, nor does he do social activities well. Usually.
It was the sounds of metal ripping through the air that caught his attention. It was not an uncommon sound to him; he was used to butchers and the large knives the fisherman used flying through the air; but this was different. The sound was heavier, less productive. There was no sounds of bones being chopped and muscles pulling apart. Given where he was, he figured it was someone using a training ground; which a quick glance around the area confirmed. Well, shit; he'd nearly walked right into that particular training ground; he'd had his head down and not paying any sort of attention to his direction, and had veered off course a bit. Oh well. Now that he was watching the other, he was actually a bit fascinated; he'd never really seen a swordsman before, and curiosity got the better of him, making him basically root to the spot to watch the male work; a curious, if closed off, expression on his face.

| Emrys smiled a little as he saw the other male approach and stop to simply watch him work through his drills. He was alternating blows, slashes, stabs and even pommel strikes from sword to sword, keeping the routine random and fluid so that there was no way an opponent would be able to catch onto his fighting style. He had been training with the blades that his father had left behind all of his life and he had become quite adept at wielding them, striking with ease at the notches that had been removed from the pell. He watched as a chip of wood flew from the pell and that's when he decided he would kick it up a notch, stepping back beside the other male and smiling before crouching down and running to the pell, jumping up at it and spinning around for a double slash. The fire made the blades cut through the pell much easier and Emrys took off what would have been the midsection first, his second blade cutting clean through what would have been the neck of the pell as it was falling to the ground.
He allowed the flames to die down from around his blades and resheathed the weapons, shaking his head at the destroyed pell but knowing that there would be another one here by tomorrow. As he finished up he made his way towards the newcomer who was watching his sword work and smiled softly once more. "Hey there, like what you see?" He grabbed a towel from nearby and wiped some sweat from his exposed muscular upper torso, letting the towel sit over his shoulders. After a few seconds, whether the stranger answered him or not he would nod towards him and say; "My name's Emrys, pleased to meet you." His grin was wide as he met the newcomer with an extended hand, though he was always ready to pull a blade from his hip if need be.

| Oh, a firebender to boot, then? He didn't see many of them, what with living in the part of the city that attracted waterbenders more than anyone. The only other firebenders he'd ever seen where his few distant cousins, and that was almost a decade ago. Hell, if he didn't start using fire himself, you'd never believe he was a firebender; he was pale for a waterbender, but everything else about him scream waterbender; it was just a given for how he'd lived his life and with how the majority of his family where waterbenders.
"My name's Emrys, pleased to meet you."
Huh? Right, right; words. Those things. Conversations... right. Socialization, not his favorite thing to do.
"Haru. I apologize for staring rudely, I've not seen many swordsmen before. The differences between in movements are interesting; I work with the fishmongers and sailors down at the docks and they move in a completely different way." There was an evenness to his tone, nothing was given away. It was robotic, but it wasn't normal either. Polite and control taken to a bit of an extreme; a reflex he'd honed to an art over the years.

| Alyia could not help but watch the male from above in the greenery of the trees.
She had spent the night nearby in a small hut that she had made out of rocks and when she woke to the crack of day break, she could find no places other than the trees to climb so that she could see the oranges, pinks and blues decorate the coming sky. So, she climbed one of the many tall trees that were scattered around her. It was there that she had spent her short amount of time meditating before she had felt the rush of warm wind against the back of her neck in the usual cool morning. Opening her eyes she quietly had moved so that she was no longer sitting on one of the branches of the tree but standing facing the direction opposite of the sun, the direction she had felt the warmth coming from. But despite her curiosity she could see nothing that had caused the warmth. She scanned the tops of the trees with her eyes, but to no avail, there was nothing out there. Turning to look back at the sunrise she saw something that had caused her to take a second look. On the outskirts of the trees there was a column of smoke rising from the ground. Narrowing her eyes she leaned forwards trying to take a closer look. Not that she managed to do so seeing how she had slipped and fallen forwards. Letting out a shriek the blonde outstretched her hands as if the branch would magically bend and allow her to catch herself.
One blink, two the blonde opened her eyes. Her hand burned like all of the skin had been rubbed off of it. Letting out a whimper the girl looked up to see a single one of her hands gripping the branch of the tree that she had just slipped on. She closed her eyes and let out a breath of relief only for her grip to slip. Snapping her green eyes open Alyia shot her other hand up to grab the branch with her other hand. Feeling the bark under her good hand she bit her hand and looked down. She did not look long. Should both of her hands slip from their grip on the branch she was going to be an Alyia pancake when she hit the ground. She looked up at the branch that she was holding onto with determined eyes the blonde turned her hands so that she was facing the tree and swung her legs up so that they would latch around the branch. Feeling the wood against her skin the blonde smiled, living on her own for three years was starting to pay off. Letting go of the branch with her hands Alyia let her body swing down so that she was hanging upside down by her legs. She lifted her hands to her face and looked at them, the one that had aught her initial fall was all red and some of her skin was pulled off. She narrowed her eyes at her hands then at the branch before reaching back up for it and grabbing it and maneuvering herself so that she was sitting on the branch looking in the direction that she had seem the plume of smoke. She wanted to know what was over there.
She stood behind one of the closer trees to where she had seen the plume of smoke. Question's passed through her head; what had caused the plume of smoke? Was it a person? Was it a fire bender? She had read about those before. They were able to use fire like she was able to bend the earth but their fire was manifested out of thin air. She tried to peek from behind the tree only to find that there was another one in the way. Alyia let out a groan and hung her head, trees, why were there so many around her. She then froze for a moment, she was in a forest no wonder there were trees. Smacking herself on the head with her back hand she hissed and bit her bottom lip trying to hold in a few selected words. She looked down at her hand and glared at it before looking back up and trying to figure out a better way to see where the smoke was coming from. Lifting her bad hand once again to run her fingers through her hair she smiled and pulled her hand away. She remembered not to use that hand! Turing around to see if she could get an idea of what to do to get a better look the blonde frowned slightly thinking. She leaned her back against a tree she looked up at all of the trees. Trees...
Hence how she was now up in a tree looking down at the male that was training. She watched for a moment admiring the movements that he made, how smooth they were, she wished that she would be able to move like that. She watched fro a couple more minutes before another person had joined the first male. He seemed interested too, but maybe a bit more curious. Tilting her head slightly she observed the interaction between the two males. The first male that was initially training in the field seemed much more friendly. She leaned forwards once again and fell letting out a squeal.
The ground hurt under her, she looked up at the branch two feet above her that she had fallen from and glared at it. Opening her hand at the ground she pictured one of the rocks decorating the floor of the forest rising up to her hand. Feeling the cold stone against her had she threw it at the tree only for it to hit the tree and come back at her. She lifted her arms in an 'X' she pictured the rock stopping before it hit her.
